Bad Car-ma (Again)

Yes - it's happened again. Some hooligans have banged my poor Yoshi!
Yoshi is my third car which followed on from Pokey & Pokey Junior, who both met unfortunate ends. (They're not to be confused with a 'poochy' which is described in the "A Not-So-Aussie Christmas" post)
I had my car parked out on the street & apparently the neighbours heard a screech of wheels & a bang! So if anyone has seen some hoons in some sort of banged up white car, then feel free to take revenge for me.
I have already cursed them with 10 years of diarrhea. Wanks.

The Annual Boxing Day Bash

Once again, hats off to Chief, CJB & Pauly for throwing yet another excellent Annual Boxing Day Party! And yes - I actually showed up this year, so you can stop the smart-ass jokes (you 'forget' one year & you never hear the end of it ...).
Here are a few happy snaps which captured the mood of the night - there's a striking similarity between the photo of me, CH & PK compared to the one of us in Chicago - but you know, PK always makes a party!
Then there's the photo where Ben is making a girly face. I like it! I reckon he won't see this until he goes back to work, so I've still got a few weeks to live my life ...
& I had to show off PK's cool t-shirt : before & after it was soiled with beer. R.I.P. Mr PiƱata

Luckily for Ben, this year CH & I came straight from a BBQ so our stomaches weren't rumbling ... no need to make those midnight peanut-butter & honey on toast sandwiches! Mmmm .. just talking about it is making my mouth water ... I'll be right back ... Posted by Picasa

A Not-So-Aussie Christmas

I was waiting in anticipation for the only way I've ever known Christmas. Not a white Christmas which the Chi-towners will be experiencing, but a sweltering hot 40 degrees.

So I was quite disappointed when not only did the temperature sit only in the high 20's, bt it also rained!

Oh well, still had a great Xmas with family & friends - below is a piccie of mum's Christmas Eve feast; including prosciutto & asparagus salad, prawn salsa salad, crayfish, turkey, ham, rare beef, pasta pesto salad, greek salad, potato salad. And dessert : Xmas cake, mini Xmas puddings, and fruit platters.
This was of course followed by Aunty Lens Christmas Day feast, which included BBQ chicken, lamb cutlets, Angus Coorong steaks, beef & pork sausages, multiple salads, and of course Aunty Len's famous Christmas cake! I know I've missed a few dishes .. but after a while they all just blur into one ...

And so the Christmas poochy is born!
FYI : for those that don't know what a 'poochy' is, it's the temporary pot belly you get from eating too much food. This is according to the Profanisaurus which I don't have a link for ... but I'm sure one of the fellas will help me out!

Classic Moment

Kev & I are driving up to Hahndorf (what else will 2 unemployed people be doing?!) when we get stuck behind this big truck that is covered in dirt.
I tried to take a picture on my camera phone, but it wasn't sharp enough ... but someone had written with their finger on the back of the truck :

I WISH MY WIFE WAS THIS DIRTY

You just gotta love it!

Home Sweet Home

Finally got my feet back on some sweet Aussie soil & I must say it feels great! The fresh air & sunshine (despite the last 2 days of rain) make me glad to be away from the Chicago snow ... brrr!

What could possibly ruin such a wonderful reunion? JETLAG.
Who would have thought jetlag could last a week? Well, atleast I think it's jetlag ... is having a headache everyday for a week normal? (If you read this & it's not, you'd better call me!)

Have been enjoying many non-American things since I got back ... like picking up something for $8.99 & paying $8.99 - don't have to worry about tax, not having to tip at dinner (esp for 1 unemployed & 1 student!) ...

Can't wait till I get over this jetlag for good so I can really enjoy the Adelaide summer!
