When Hard Work Pays Off

Hey guys - I didn't wanna say anything before, but in my time here in the US, CH & I spent some of our time trying to get roles as extras in movies. Quite a lot get shot in Chicago ... I think Jennifer Aniston is in town right now.

So our efforts have finally paid off, & here's a sneek peek of us ... I'm not sure if this movie is out in Australia yet, but it's perfect if you wanna laugh till you cry!

Check it out here.

Wankie's Cousin ... ?

Another Ameri-English blunder .....

The Food Network had a special presentation on a pizza making & dough throwing contest, where one dude makes a pizza, whilst the other spins the dough in the air in time to music (p.s. pretty cool).

Commentator's Ameri-English remark : "And here comes the first tosser ..."

Hey Jude

Ladies areound the world are in shock - how could Jude Law, in everyone's top 10 sexiest men list, cheat with the nanny??!! Story here
And why would you cheat on Sienna Miller? She's gorgeous!! First Brad hooks up with Angelina Jolie, & now this!
Tho I must say, I'm surprised that he publically admitted it, he should have just done a Beckham & denied it till he was blue in the face ... works for Posh.

Ameri-English

Breaking the language barrier .....

Highlighted this week by news stories covering the death of a Lincoln Park Zoo elephant, who had the unfortunate name of "Wankie". Yes, Wankie. He probably died of embarassment.

So here's a little translation & pronunciation list (Australian -> US) :
AustralianAmerican
BootTrunk(back of car)
ThongsFlip Flops(Thongs in US = g-string!)
Herbs"urbs"
Pecan"peh-carn"( a yummy nut)
Mocha"mow-cah"
Depot"dee-poh"
SconeBiscuit(it's either a cookie or a cracker)
ButtFannyhee hee hee

I'm sure there are many more ... I'll keep you updated :D

How To Make A Buck

Adelaide people will know what I'm talking about ....

In the last year or so, we've seen Aussies making serious buck with their 'original ideas' that have grown into booming franchises - Boost Juice and Cold Rock Ice Creamery.

But jeepers! look what I found here in America :
- Jamba Juice and Cold Stone Creamery

These are almost identical!!!! I guess when the copyrighting laws stop somewhere in the Pacific Ocean (I hope that's right, my geography sux) there's just no shame in ripping off other people's original ideas.

Now if I can just find one to knock off ....

Bling Bling

Now THIS is what I call a pedicure!!

I dunno if you can see it properly in the photo, but those are little diamantes glued on!
I got this done at a little Nail Salon at Woodfield Mall & it was just like the ones in the American sitcoms. All the workers were Vietnamese (I think in Seinfeld they're Korean) & I could barely understand them! Then sometimes they would say something to each other in Vienamese, & you can't help but wonder if it's about you ...

Cure For The Yellow Man

If you're one of my Asian friends, the chances are that like me, you will turn beetroot red at the slightest drop of alcohol. This is no rosey glow, no cute pink highlighted cheeks - we're talking about looking like you've had a severe allergic reaction, or you're going to a costume party as a tomato. (I'd attach a photo but its just too embarassing).

Well - turns out may be there there is a God for the yellow man - and his name is "Pepcid". Yes, simple Antacid. How did I find this cure? Just go to Google & type in "asian red alcohol" & take your pick of FAQ sites.

So far I've conducted 2 experiments - both involving red wine - a surefire catalyst for my 'asian flush'. Both times I found that the effects of the wine were severely reduced - I had a slight pink glow to the cheeks & didn't experience the pounding heart sensation that comes after a few glasses.

Anybody else had any experience with this?
